Reiki Therapy Definition:
" A complementary therapy in which a trained practitioner places his or her hands on or above a specific body area and transfers what is called "Universal Life Energy" to the patient. That energy, it is claimed, provides "strength, harmony and balance" necessary to treat health disturbances. The therapy, derived from an ancient Buddhist practice, involves a total of fifteen hand positions covering all the body systems." - Source: Mosby's Medical Nursing, & Allied Health Dictionary –
Reiki Levels / Degrees
Reiki Levels are energy levels. It is taught in three levels/degrees and each level/degree possesses a unique radiation of energy set forth for a specific purpose of energy treatment.
Level I
The first level, Usui Shiki Ryoho, is the foundation of all levels and must be mastered thoroughly before a person is considered for the next level.
It is a permanent connection/attunement to the Reiki energy ray. Once the person has been initiated, it allows the person to channel Reiki energy for energy treatment on one self and others.
Just by placing the hands on/above the person and opening the heart to love, one automatically transfers the Reiki energy.
Level II
The second level requires further initiations for attunement to the symbols/keys used in this level.
The appropriate use of the symbols is explained, which provides certain wavelengths of energy to be transferred to aid in mental/emotional energy treatment and distant energy treatment.
Level III
The third level requires the initiation of the master symbol/key thus enabling the student the use of the full Reiki ray.
Once the “level three student” decides to become a teacher he/she is taught to initiate others and take responsibility for their learning.
Reiki Healing
Reiki sessions become a healing when the recipient is ready to integrate the energy. Such sessions can be done in person by whom the practitioner channels the Universal Life Energy to the recipient using Reiki taught methods. The hands-on session may touch the body or keep the hands a short distance away from the area of concern. If close proximity to the recipient is not advisable but is within 6 feet, Beaming the energy is an option. For all other Reiki session I opt for the Distance Healing Method using a proxy. Another method is visualization. Substitution of the recipient is not recommended as the practitioner opens him/herself to sharing energies of the recipient and thus can become sick.
